Summer 2025 Coming Soon
Air Dry Pottery with Natural Clay (August 19-23; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign ups available between 8am-5pm. We will spend the week harvesting clay and sculpting everything from pots to gnomes.
Fabric Dyeing with Nature (August 12-16; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign ups available between 8am-5pm. Colors are all around us, especially at this time of year! We’ll harvest nature’s beautiful hues from our dye garden and forage along hiking trails to create natural ink and dye for fabrics. At the end of the week, we will get to give fabrics like old shirts, linens, and tote bags new life through the natural dyeing process. Kids will get to bring items from home or use some available old fabrics to create a project for them to keep.
Taking Care of Mother Earth (August 5-9; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign ups available between 8am-5pm. This week we’ll learn about the word “stewardship” and what that means for us as caretakers of our environment. We’ll explore native ecosystems as we talk about ways to make sure they stay healthy for generations to come. The kids will drive projects of their own interests to make our outdoor spaces more functional, educational, and full of life. As always, we’ll play, explore, and create along the way!
Shelter Building (July 29-August 2; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign ups available between 8am-5pm. This week, we will explore shelter building for humans as well as all sorts of real and magical creatures. Kids will gather supplies such as branches, mosses, and leaves from our surroundings to make a shelter. We’ll think about what we would need if we lived outside, and what we want to use to make ourselves a cozy space for the week. Once we build our own shelter, we will also pick some other shelters to build for creatures like pollinators, frogs, birds, and even fairies!
Foraging (July 22-26; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign up available between 8am-5pm. This week, kids will learn to identify edible and medicinal plants to forage in the Northwest, with the important note to never forage without an adult present. We will practice sustainable techniques, making sure to take only what we need and ensure the longevity of plants for years to come. After collecting each plant, we’ll learn about their uses and make some of our own concoctions to try!
Storytelling with the Seasons: Summer (July 15-19; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign up available between 8am-5pm. This week, we will be reflecting on the changing seasons and tuning into the natural rhythms of the Earth through storytelling. We’ll hear myths and stories about the Pacific Northwest as we discover the wonders of the transition from Spring to Summer. The kids will also have the freedom to follow their own interests as they collect, sketch, paint, and build stories that celebrate our surroundings.
Herbs and Potions (July 8-12; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign up available between 8am-5pm. This camp was a kid favorite in 2023, and this year we timed it to correspond with the blooming of our perennial tea garden! We’ll learn about medicinal and culinary uses of native plants, as well as explore common herbs found in a home garden, as we make all sorts of syrups, poultices, and potions from scratch.
Painting with Trees (June 24-28; 9am-3pm daily)
Ages 5-11, extended care sign up available between 8am-5pm. This week aims to bring the green blur of nature into a finer focus by naming and learning to identify the most common trees in the PNW: Oregon White Oak, Bigleaf Maple, Douglas Fir, Western Redcedar, and more. Kids will use found materials, along with other natural pigments and tools, to paint what they see and feel as we truly get to know these gentle giants.
Homeschool Mini Camp
Each day will be a unique experience with the common thread of seasonal transitions, so you can sign up for one mini camp or all three! Kids will have the chance to build community and follow their interests as we spend time communing with nature. Camps will focus on exploring the seasons and the natural rhythms of the Earth. In the fall, we’ll explore topics of gathering, preparing, creating, and natural balance! We will meet at 9am and pick up will be at 2pm each day.

Color Through the Eyes of a Naturalist
This 7 week naturalist training will allow us to explore nature through the lens of color and pattern. An astonishing variety of natural colors surrounds us every day, and we will learn to notice this beauty throughout our course. We’ll focus on a new species of plant or animal (including insects and birds!) every session. Each participant will capture their essence with observations, sketching, natural paint making, and more. We will meet each Thursday from 4-5:30pm.
Open House for Homeschooling Families
If you are part of a homeschooling family, come join us for our Open House! We invite you and your kiddos into our outdoor classroom for a chance to make native wildflower seed “bombs” and get to know one another.
Family Naturalists - Native Plants Jewelry Making
In this class, participants will collect leaves, twigs, bark, grasses, or whatever else catches their eye as they hike and explore the area. They will then return to the outdoor classroom to create epoxy gems for earrings, necklaces, charm bracelets, key chains and more.
Family Naturalists - Upcycle Clothing
In this class, participants will learn how to give old clothes a new life through a variety of patching, embroidery, and dye techniques.
Family Naturalists - Tree ID
This class is an introduction to nature journaling with a fun twist: create a series Oregon State Tree IDs for the trees you learn to identify.
Middle School Mini Camp - Back to School Upcycle Fashion
Learn techniques to embroider, patch, hem, and dye old clothes to give them a brand new life. Practice on our scrap clothes, or bring your own and create something you can wear to school.
Camp - Painting the Trees
Throughout the week we’ll create a tree identification guide, learning the local native trees and painting with natural pigments and found or constructed paint brushes.
Camp - Roots, Shoots, Flowers and Fruits
Using the garden harvest, we’ll explore how different parts of a plant can be delicious for us and important for the plant’s growth and life-cycle.
Camp - Herbs and Potions
We’ll learn about medicinal and culinary uses of native plants, as well as explore common herbs found in a home garden. Chamomile and lavender-filled sleepy herb sachets are on the agenda!
